The passing of summer.

Sigh, fall is upon us with a vengeance. How I already long for those lazy days of summer as a kid. Summer meant lots of play, lots of food, lots of sleep and Enid Blyton. Ofcourse, a perfect summer also included a trip here…

Another Gold!

India wins another GOLD!

Or multiple golds plus a few silvers and a bronze to be precise!

So proud!

I think that by the rule that whoever discovers a new astrophysical body gets to name it, the nine planets should be known by their Indian nomenclature!

So awesome - Who knew?

Clean- up crew with hair mats on the beach soaking up oil spills.

Who knew human hair had other uses besides making women look beautiful and men presentable?

Now you can use mats made out of hair to soak up oil spills on beaches!

Mats made from human hair slurp of the oily blobs at the slightest touch.

How cool is that? Imagine this free (almost) tool that people have around the world to clean up one of the worst disaster faced by an ecosystem?

My vacation last year included a visit to a small coastal village on the west coast. The village and the scenery was too beautiful for words. The only fly in the ointment so to speak was all the oil churned up by the ocean. The water was dark and mineral...kind that stuck to you and took ages to get off your skin. At first I thought that maybe we had s spill off the coast nearby. But the villagers claimed that this happened every year. What, the weather pattern causes the sea to churn up oil? Anyhow, hair mats could really soak up that gunk on the beach for sure. Imagine all the ladies with their looong beautiful tresses, donating their locks for a cause.

Green living....so overrated!

What? I can’t even use those plastic bags to get my daily sabzi home?
I think that we are being policed….by that fascist Green Army! They are infringing on my God given rights!
Even our Rajjobai refuses to go to the mandi with cloth bags! She says that they clash with her stylish salwar outfit! Yesterday I had to go to the mandi for sabzi. I had to make sure that Suparna next door did not catch me bringing home sabzi! Meri toh naak hi cut jaati! Using cloth bags for grocery is so down-market, so old Delhi!

I think I will have to get that hip new canvas shopping bag I found people carrying in England. (Yes, we do take a yearly vacation to England or US of A every year. Summers are so bad and sweaty in Delhi. Kittu hates to be in India in summer you know!) I will not make Rajjobai carry regular cloth bags for sabzi. She will carry those new canvas bags that says “I am green”. So recherche of me!
